Oral Surgery

In Toronto and Mississauga, Ontario

Although routine dental hygiene and dental exams can keep your teeth and gums healthy, serious dental issues may require more advanced dental treatment. An experienced oral surgeon like those at Willow Dental can help with these serious dental issues.

Common Oral Surgery Procedures

One of the most common procedures performed in general oral surgery is tooth extraction. This includes wisdom teeth that are impacted or have erupted, taking care of broken or decayed teeth, and removing primary teeth to allow permanent teeth to come out. However, there are several other procedures in which an oral surgeon may be necessary.

The  dentists at Willow Dental can diagnose and treat:

  • Alveolectomy – Removal of a portion of the alveolar process, the ridge in the upper part of your mouth,  in order to create a jaw anatomy better for the fitting of dentures
  • Apicoectomy – If an infection occurs after a root canal procedure or the root canal procedure itself fails, you may need the root tip removed along with the infected tissue
  • Bone grafting – Restores normal function to a jaw that has been reconstructed
  • Dental implants – Replaces the missing root of a tooth to fill in the gap
  • Frenectomy – Removing the band of tissue between your upper lip and gum in conjunction with orthodontic work
  • Sinus lift – Augmenting the bone of the top jaw to place dental implants
  • Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) – In cases of serious chronic face and jaw pain, if more conservative treatment does not work, aligning the jaw through oral surgery may be necessary
